This is a really cool aroid. Philodendron linnnaei grows in a beautiful rosette like a flower and then forms runners that will form another rosette that can be shared with a friend. Similar to the popular “spider plant” that used to be in everyone’s home. The back of the leaves are a bright purplish red and the surface is olive green. This species is from low elevations in the Amazon basin and tolerates heat well. I’ve always loved this philodendron but for some reason it seems to have all but disappeared in collections lately. Here are some pictures of the runners and growth habit: http://www.exoticrainforest.com/Philodendron%20linnaei%20pc.html
The plants we have right now have leaves about 4-6″ long.
